Holden Outerwear launch 07/08 site

Our favourite outerwear brand Holden has just launched the 07/08 site. The funny thing is that instead of showing pictures of all the gear, they’ve made small videos about each jacket, pant etc. Not so good if you’re still using a dial up connection.

Holden Outerwear

You get a better view of the gear. But on the downside – you can’t easily see and compare the different colours. Also the videos tend to load a bit slow. But you do get a lot of info about the jackets. And more important – you get a good feel about the gear. I’m hoping this is the future for online shopping.

This is a site to come back to time after time. To go with the videos are some moody music by someone called Nudge.

You really need to check this one out! Holden Outerwear

Coal Headwear

With the snowboarding season and with it the cold is getting closer we all need some warmth and coziness. In comes Coal. You get some nice beanies, knitwear and new for this season – even some cool hats.

Coal
Laura Hadar, the Sands Hoodie from Considered range and Mikey LeBlanc in one of last years best jacket – The Stanley from Holden!

The design is simple and really good looking. The beanies (and even the headbands) are as stylish on the slope as on the street. The colours and styles are really close to what Holden does (I guess you can figure out the connection while the brands share some temariders amongst other things). Our favourite is – just like last year – The Team and The Frena. The only problem with Coal is that if you’re a bit bigheaded (like I am) you can’t really cramp yourself into the more stylish beanies. Maybe it’s time to make a new big headed range?

Also Coal have released some even more stylish and fashion styled hats and knits under the name Coal Considered. Check it out!!

Isenseven – Bang, Bang!

The august clip from Isenseven isn’t like the other ones. Instead of a lot of nice snowboarding it mostly partying and crashes while snowboarding. Kind of reminds me of the pre-season frustration while you’re waiting for the snow to fall, the lifts to open and the season to kick off. Even it’s not a bunch of pow in the clip the song too it is cool as usual, “Sunshine – Top! Top! The Radio!”.

Team Manwhore

The latest range from Team Manwhore is here! Team what? Team Manwhore is a loose collective of former pro snowboarders. They’ve been around since ’91, mostly partying and fixing contests/parties.

Aargh!!
Aargh jacket/hoody.

With the coming season they’ve made it big and bring us some cool sweaters and tees. Our favourite is the Aargh. An unholy cross between a peacock coat and a hoody. Thanks to the good peolpe at Item we’ve managed to get our hands on this beauty. For the rest of you – the collection is to drop….soon.

Terje – the worlds best lusekofta

In the current issue of Snowboarder you’ll find an excellent interview with Terje Haakonsen. Over more than 10 pages you get to know the amazing snowboarder from Norway. Once he was most famous for the Haakon flip and for boycotting the Olympics. These days he is just simple an icon. His long term relationship with Burton has given us amazing boards such as T6, the Fish and the Malolo.

Terje Haakonsen
Terje – the best snowboarder in the world.

Terje tells it like it is. He complains about the capitalization of snowboarding and how Shaun White and riders such a like sell out. He even sounds a bit like Glen E Friedman when he once hated on Tony Hawk for selling out to McDonalds and a bunch of other multi national companies. The core is snowboarding (and in Mr Friedmans case skateboarding). That is something we should never forget.

In the same issue you get a really good interview with Natasza Zurek as well. She shares the same thoughts.

It’s just too bad that ghetto shredder Jeremy Jones doesn’t understand the dangers with global heating. Still in the same issue he and JP Walker sit down and have a talk. Jeremy Jones makes an idiot out of himself but he probably doesn’t care.

Shredding in magazines

Holden Paolo
The Paolo jacket from Holden in hemp. Organic and environmental friendly.

With the snowboarding season approaching the snowboard magazines are start dropping. European mag Onboard is as steady as ever and has a full feature on the coming stuff. From boards all the way down to socks. Still the editors are really good at emphasis on the actual shredding. You don’t really need all this fancy stuff, is the message. Although it’s good fun to read all about the equipment.

The latest issues from Snowboarder, Future snowboard and Transworld snowboarding has also dropped. My favorite amongst them are Snowboarder. Loads of articles and usually better ads (some how the American market seems to be more exciting than the European).
